How it works in practice

Three roles, one connected ecosystem

The student decides, Ali provides guidance and the teacher facilitates — all connected on the same platform.

1

The student plays and decides

Students take part in challenges and quizzes, earn AliCoins and manage their digital wallet.

2

Ali provides guidance

Ali guides, provides hints and communicates in a way suited to students, teachers or families.

3

The teacher facilitates

Teachers create activities and assessments, organise resources and monitor class participation and results.

Learning through experience

Adult financial life in a safe environment

Earning, spending, saving and investing form the cycle students practise through simulated decisions with no real financial consequences.

Earn

Earn fictional currency by participating, learning and completing activities.

Spend

Practise conscious consumption throughout the educational ecosystem.

Save

Keep a balance in the wallet or digital safe and plan goals.

Invest

Explore risk, reward and decision-making under uncertainty through simulation.

Curriculum integration

It integrates into the curriculum and everyday school life. It is not a separate activity: it supports work already under way.

  • It can be used in the classroom, at home or in projects.
  • It connects with content from different subjects.
  • It accompanies students across education stages.

For those who decide and implement

An educational decision with practical impact

AliPlay combines pedagogical value, progressive implementation and adaptability. Technology serves a clear purpose: preparing students to make more informed financial decisions.

E
Schools and school groups

Integrate without creating another isolated activity

AliPlay becomes part of the work the school already carries out, respecting pedagogical autonomy and each class’s pace.

  • Links with Citizenship Education, Mathematics, Languages, ICT and interdisciplinary projects.
  • The teacher remains at the centre of facilitation and monitoring.
  • Start with a class, project, year group or education stage, with room to grow.
M
Municipalities

Bring financial literacy to schools with a local identity

A municipality can support a shared educational strategy, coordinate schools and bring content closer to the local context.

  • Progressive implementation in one or several schools.
  • Challenges and modules that can reflect local context and identity.
  • Monitoring participation, continuity and project expansion.

Supported implementation

From demonstration to continuity

The journey begins by understanding the institution’s context and evolves through preparation, support and monitoring.

  1. 01

    Explore

A focused demonstration of the ecosystem and a conversation about objectives, education stages and educational context.

  2. 02

    Define

Selection of the starting point, participating classes, timetable and pedagogical priorities.

  3. 03

    Prepare

Environment configuration, access organisation and teacher preparation.

  4. 04

    Implement

Progressive launch, support for the first activities and any necessary refinements.

  5. 05

    Develop

Monitoring participation and planning continuity or expansion.

It can start simply. A class, a group of classes or a pilot project can be the starting point for progressive implementation.

Frequently asked questions

The essentials, answered

Direct answers to the most common questions from schools, school groups and municipalities.

Ask the team a question
What is AliPlay?

It is a gamified educational ecosystem for digital financial literacy. Each student uses a digital wallet and makes simulated decisions about earning, spending, saving and investing without using real money.

Does AliPlay use real money?

No. AliPlay uses AliCoin, a fictional currency created exclusively for educational purposes. It has no real monetary value, cannot be converted into money and all decisions take place in a safe, simulated environment.

Which education stages is it designed for?

The architecture is designed for primary, lower secondary and upper secondary education. The project has already been applied in real school settings in primary and lower secondary education.

How does it integrate into the curriculum and everyday school life?

It can be used in the classroom, at home or in projects and linked with Citizenship Education, Mathematics, Languages, ICT and other areas. It supports existing work rather than operating as an isolated activity.

What is the teacher’s role?

The teacher facilitates activities, quizzes and assessments, organises resources and monitors class participation and results through AliProf and the ecosystem’s other tools.

What is Ali’s role?

Ali is the AliPlay assistant. She guides students, provides hints, encourages participation and communicates in a way suited to students, teachers or families.

Is AliPlay suitable for municipalities?

Yes. A municipality can support a pilot project, coordinate several schools, incorporate content linked to the local context and monitor implementation using participation and progress indicators.

Can it begin with a small number of students?

Yes. AliPlay can begin with one class, a group of classes or a pilot project and grow progressively after the initial phase is evaluated.

How does implementation begin?

The first step is a demonstration and a diagnostic conversation to understand the education stages, classes, timetable, objectives and level of support required.

Which frameworks is it based on?

It is guided by the Portuguese DGE Financial Education Framework and considers frameworks and work from OECD/INFE, PISA, UNICEF, UNESCO and the World Bank, complemented by reference works in behavioural economics, learning and gamification.

Let’s explore how AliPlay can work in your institution.

Tell us about your context. You do not need to know the exact number of students yet: an estimate or the intention to begin with one class is enough for the first conversation.

  • A demonstration tailored to school leadership, teachers or a municipality.
  • Clear information about implementation, scale and support.
  • A conversation focused on the institution’s context and objectives.
